Yamazaki Mizunara Cask 2013 Release

A very interesting whisky from Yamazaki, the Suntory distillery use a rather unusual cask for maturation, the indigenous Mizunara oak. Not used too often for whisky maturation as the loose grain of the wood makes it prone to leakage, however it is prized for the flavours it imparts. 2013 also marks the 90th anniversary of the Yamazaki distillery, which opened in 1923.
