Laphroaig Quarter Cask Islay Single Malt Whisky

The Laphroaig Quarter Cask is a lively, vibrant malt from the chaps at the Laphroaig distillery who made the well educated decision to mature younger spirit in much smaller (quarter cask) barrels, which speeds up maturation because there is more contact from the spirit with the wood. This gives this expression a velvety texture and subtle sweetness which develops nicely into fairly intense peatiness in typical Laphroaig style. An excellent typical Islay Laphroaig whisky, bottled at a rather excellent 48% making it fantastic value.

Also this lovely Islay malt won the Whisky Bible 2012 Runner-up Best No Age Statement Single Malt Scotch of the Year. Mighty praise indeed.
